BOOK NOOK BUDDY
Book Nook Buddy (BNB) is a reading and support program designed for seniors (65+) and children (17 and younger). This program offers live reading and support to seniors and children who may be visually impaired, need assistance reading or simply need a human connection.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?
Book Nook Buddy (BNB) offers reading services to seniors and children, Monday through Saturday (hours vary). Our BNB readers, ages 12 and older, volunteer their time to our valued "Reading Partners" (RPs). The BNB program works with individuals and organizations, boasts a wide variety of books and has 1-on-1 or group sessions.
HOW HAS COVID-19 AFFECTED THE PROGRAM?
The safety of our Reading Partners and BNBs is our highest priority, therefore, we have stopped all in-person options and will only utilize video communication until further notice. We are utilizing video communication tools such as Zoom, Google Duo and Web Ex to ensure that we continue serving our Reading Partners.
We now offer the Book Nook Buddy program as an online service!
HOW DO THE READING SESSIONS WORK?
BNB sessions are scheduled (at minimum) 14 days in advance. Reading Partners will have the required video connection device (tablet, laptop, smart phone, etc.) setup prior to the session. A link will be setup for each Reading Partner when they join the program. A BNB technical assistant will ensure that both parties are logged on and the session has started with no technical issues.
ARE THE ONLINE SESSIONS SECURE?
Waiting rooms are setup for each reading session to ensure that no uninvited attendees breach the reading session. ALL SESSIONS ARE RECORDED for security purposes, however, it is against our policy to share recordings or use them for marketing or promotional purposes. Family members or organization representatives may join sessions, with prior approval from the Reading Partner.
I WANT A BOOK NOOK BUDDY... HOW DO I SIGN-UP?
Complete the online form by clicking the "I WANT A BNB" option at the top of this page. A BNB team member will contact you within 48 hours to start the process. The process can take up to 2 weeks for individuals and 4 weeks for organizations, as legal reviews or agreements may be required for organizations.
HOW DO I VOLUNTEER AS A BOOK NOOK BUDDY?
Volunteers should be 12 years old or older, be a fluent reader and dedicate 1 hour per month to the program. Volunteers will need to sign-up, pass a background check and sign our Code of Conduct agreement to be approved as a volunteer.
